Well, for me personally, what a week for this to turn up.
My favourite film of all time, Field Of Dreams, was released on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format some six years ago in the US, and like many fans of the movie, I’ve long since imported it. However, in early 2026, Universal is finally giving the 4K disc of the movie a release on these shores.

It’s a special significance movie for me for a ton of reasons, and I got to put on a screening of it towards the end of the 2010s, where I sat next to my dad – who I’d dragged along – and he began to understand why it meant so much to me. My dad passed away last week, and I can’t work out if I’m looking forward to or dreading being ready to watch Field Of Dreams again. I do know that to me personally, it’s an enormously special film.
For those new to the movie – and one of my kids has happily described it as a load of rubbish, and the stupidest film they’ve seen – it’s a 1989 feature headlined by Kevin Costner. Starring alongside Amy Madigan (who recently popped up in Weapons in quite a different role), Ray Liotta, James Earl Jones, Timothy Busfield and Gaby Hoffman, Costner plays a farmer who hears a strange voice, and basically decides to build a baseball field in the midst of his valuable field of corn.
Written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson, Field Of Dreams is incredibly dear to my heart. One day, I’m hoping to get Phil Alden Robinson to the UK for a special screening of the film. For now, the 4K might just have to do.
