The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has landed and looks like we’re in for epic action. Take a peek here.
It’s a good day to be a Marvel fan. The day we’ve been waiting for is finally here; Marvel has released the very first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday and it looks promising.
Take a look at the new trailer for Doomsday:
Robert Downey Jr.’s Dr. Doom is still being kept mostly in the background, although the trailer does reveal Downey Jr. doing an accent for the villain. The trailer also gives us a glimpse at Thor holding court with the Thunderbolts (aka the New Avengers), the Fantastic Four and few others, with the Asgardian god warning them of the danger Dr. Doom poses.
“Mark my words: We are going to need a miracle,” Chris Hemsworth’s hero tells the others.
Channing Tatum is also reprising his role as Gambit, a character he’s been very passionate about playing and debuted in Deadpool & Wolverine. Chris Evans is also back as Steve Rogers, who surprises Thor in the trailer. You might remember that last time the superhero saw Captain America, he had chosen a different life in the multiverse, growing old with Peggy Carter. It’s also lovely to see Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi back in action while we wait for his solo sequel.
The trailer hasn’t landed on Youtube with any kind of new plot description, but there seems to be one attached to the film’s Rotten Tomatoes page.
We’ll save you a trip there, here’s what it says: “Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. See it in Infinity Vision, the way it’s meant to be seen, on bigger, brighter and more immersive screens.”
The trailer also promises that you can watch it in “Infinity Vision”, whatever that might be. We’re going to assume it’s the studio’s way of compensating for losing the IMAX screens to Denis Villeneuve’s equally anticipated Dune Part Three.
There’s a lot riding on Doomsday’s shoulders, being the first Avengers film to follow 2019’s Avengers: Endgame which is the second highest grossing movie of all time. Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo are back in the directors’ chairs and Marvel is hoping the pair can inject some of the excitement that used to come as standard with Marvel movies but the studio has struggled to capture in recent years.
Now there’s nothing to do but wait and see if Doomsday will hit those same high notes as the previous Avengers movies.
Avengers: Doomsday hits cinemas 18th December.
