Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise is getting another instalment this year – here’s the first trailer for Evil Dead Rise.

It’s been ten years since the last Evil Dead film was released in cinemas, and now the newest instalment in the series, Evil Dead Rise, finally has a full trailer. If this preview is anything to go by, it seems like there’ll be plenty of gory and squeamish stuff for horror fans to enjoy.

Taking the series away from the cabin in the woods and transporting the action to a modern apartment block, the film will see the reunion of two sisters (played by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan) that’s cut short after the discovery of the Necronomicon. It’s unclear how the evil book ended up in L.A., but it will definitely result in some demonic shenanigans.

The exceedingly creepy trailer sees Beth (Sullivan) have to protect her sister’s children when the Necronomicon is found and Ellie (Sutherland) becomes possessed. After that, there’s a ton of violence including drills, glass, scalping and cheese graters. Ouch.

Here’s the trailer –

Evil Dead Rise will be released in cinemas on 21st April.
