Hans Zimmerās 2016 Live In Prague show is now getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray physical media release. More here.
The week we learn that the work of Hans Zimmer is getting a cinema outing to itself, one of his sold out concerts is confirmed for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format.
Hans Zimmer: Live In Prague is already available on Blu-ray, but Eagle Rock has now put a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray physical media release up for pre-order.
It’s set to land on 21st March 2025, and you can find more information, and order yourself a copy, right here.
Update: This has now been delayed to 18th July 2025.
This is a concert that was shot in 2016, and as such you’re not going to be getting anything from, say, Dune or Tenet in there. What you will get are pieces of music from the likes of The Dark Knight trilogy, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Gladiator, The Lion King, Inception, Driving Miss Daisy, True Romance and Rain Man.
The show itself featured 72 musicians, a posh light show, and acclaimed staging as well. Whether there’s too much of an upgrade on the impressive Blu-ray – which itself came with superb sound, if memory serves (it featured Dolby Atmos for a start) – remains to be seen. But for the price of £20.99, you can find out if you want to.
We’ll leave you with the synopsis for the release…
Hans Zimmer is one of the most successful film music composers working today. His multi-award winning career reaches back to the mid-eighties and he has developed close working relationships with renowned directors such as Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Bay, Ron Howard, Gore Verbinski and Christopher Nolan. His credits include some of the biggest blockbuster movies of all time along with acclaimed TV series such as The Crown and Planet Earth II. This concert was filmed on 7th May 2016 in Prague during Hans Zimmer’s hugely successful European concert tour. Hans was accompanied by a band, orchestra and choir, 72 musicians in total, including guitarist Johnny Marr. The staging was spectacular with a ground breaking light show, stunning visuals and a state of the art sound system. Hans Zimmer performs on multiple instruments and gives introductory insights to many of the pieces during the concert. This show is a treat for lovers of both great music and great movies.
