A stage version of the hit movie Hustlers is in the early stages of development.
The film may not be getting the traction in awards season that many felt it warranted, but that aside, STX will surely be pleased with the response to one of its biggest ever hits, Hustlers.
The film was directed by Lorene Scafaria and was headlined by Jennifer Lopez, and following its successful box office run it’s heading to disc over the coming weeks. Now we learn too that work is already underway on transferring its success to the stage.
Scafaria herself broke the news, telling Variety that “I’m trying to develop it for the stage”.
That work has begun, although she notes that it’s “just starting”, with the plan being to mix in music from the film as well as some new tunes. But that in turn is “going to depend on what Usher lets us do”.
No timescale as of yet for the production. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, though.
