A live action take on Moana is in the works from Disney, and here are the first details.
Disney plundering its back catalogue to do live action remakes has been the norm for several years now, and films like Aladdin, Cinderella and The Lion King did huge business. The studio is not being discouraged.
Disney has now revealed plans to remake Moana in live action. It is notable as being the first film under a decade old to receive the treatment, the original having only been released in 2016.
The film follows the titular girl as she teams up with demigod Maui to stop a curse he accidentally unleashed. Singing, and good singing at that, was involved.
Also notable is the fact that original leading actors Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho are reprising their roles as Maui and Moana, and the two actors will also be producers Original screenwriter Jared Bush is also returning to pen the script.
There is no release date as yet, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
