Lynne Ramsay’s next film, Die, My Love, is said to be a Sylvia Plath-style tale of grief that will go before cameras later this year.

Lynne Ramsay’s career as a director spans a quarter of a century, yet she only has four films to her name. Still, when those four films are Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar, We Need to Talk About Kevin and 2017’s You Were Never Really Here, you have the kind of filmography that would make many a filmmaker envious.

Despite not being especially prolific, Ramsay is said to have several projects bubbling away at the minute. We’ve heard in the past that she’s planning to work with Joaquin Phoenix again (following their memorable collaboration in You Were Never Really Here) in Polaris, although its been a couple of years this that story first appeared. Then there’s Stone Mattress, a project featuring Julianne Moore, Kyle Chandler and Sandra Oh which was first announced in 2022.

According to the director herself, however, the next Ramsay project to go before cameras will be Die, My Love. That film is said to be (according to World Of Reel) ‘an adaptation of a novel by Argentine writer Ariana Harwicz and is being described as a stark tale set in rural France of a woman driven to the brink of insanity by marriage and motherhood. Martin Scorsese is also set to produce the film.’

Lawrence left Adam McKay’s proposed film about Theranos founder and convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes to take on this project. The actor left CAA, her talent agency, back in 2022 after claiming that she had been ‘hijacked’ into doing ‘blockbuster material.’ A project with Ramsay promises to be anything but, and we’re excited to see Lawrence taking on roles that show the full range of her abilities, as this one surely will.

We’ll bring you more details on Die, My Love as we hear them, but if Stone Mattress is also progressing as quickly as reports suggest, Ramsay might be taking on two films in pretty short order.
