Curry Barker’s obsession will be heading to Blu-ray and 4K disc, as well as DVD, this autumn. More details on the release here.

Along with Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, Curry Barker’s Obsession has – with some justification – become the box office story of the year. While far more expensive films have been struggling to get a foothold, or look within pissing distance of making a profit, Obsession has helped itself to $253m at the US box office, and $173m elsewhere on the planet. Not too shabby, considering it cost give or take fifty quid to make.

What’s also been interesting has been the drive to keep it in cinemas. Only two months on is the film now available on digital services, and the physical media release – yep, it’s getting one – is still a month or two away. Meanwhile, the film remains in the top ten at the cinema as well.

Anyway: that physical media release.

In the UK, Obsession will be arriving on disc from 7th September 2026. It’s heading to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and from what I can gleam, all iterations of the disc release will come with extra features too.

Specifically, Curry Barker has recorded a commentary track that’s going to be included, and there’s also behind the scenes interviews for the movie also to be found.

If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of the thoroughly impressive film, then might I recommend you see it as coldly as possible. Not because it’s holding humungous spoilers per se, more because it’s so much fun, the less you know. Completely going against that, here’s the synopsis for the movie…

After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desirers come at a dark, sinister price.

Which is all I knew going in. The discs are available for preorder right now.
