Principal photography has finally begun on The Thicket, starring Peter Dinklage, and here are the first details.

Peter Dinklage has been attached to star in an adaptation of Joe R. Landsdale’s novel The Thicket for a decade. It was set to go into production in 2020 with a different cast, until the events of that year delayed the film.

The tale is a western, following the story of Jack, played by Levon Hawke, who sets out on a quest to save his sister, played by Esme Creed Miles, who has been kidnapped by Juliette Lewis’ violent outlaw Cut Throat Bill. Dinklage will play Reginald Jones, a bounty hunter enlisted by Jack to help her, alongside the grave digging alcoholic son of an ex-slave and a street smart prostitute, played by Gbenga Akinnagbe and Leslie Grace, respectively.

Metallica lead singer James Hetfield, Ned Dennehy, Andrew Schulz and Arliss Howard will also feature.

Elliott Lester directs from a screenplay by playwright Christopher Kelly. Lester and Dinklage also act as producers.

The Thicket is currently filming in Canada, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
