Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine star in the trailer for Michael Showalter’s new film. Watch the first The Idea Of You trailer here.
Based on Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel of the same name, The Idea Of You finds Anne Hathaway falling for a much younger pop-star.
Prime Video has released the very first trailer for the film, which is also the closing night film at the SXSW festival later this month.

The film is directed by Michael Showalter who is no stranger to compelling rom-coms. Showalter previously directed The Big Sick and The Lovebirds among other titles. He also directed Jessica Chastain to a Best Actress win for her performance in Showalter’s The Eyes Of Tammy Faye.
Nicholas Galitzine stars as Hathaway’s much younger love interest Hayes, who is part of the popular boy band August Moon. To celebrate the trailer’s release, Prime Video have also released a single from the film’s soundtrack, titled ‘Dance Before We Walk’ and performed by the boys of August Moon.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Idea Of You: Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You centres on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mum who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. When Solène must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter’s trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes and there is an instant, undeniable spark. As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn’t long before Hayes’ superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.
Rom-coms are in particularly high demand currently. Bridget Jones 4 is heading into production later this Spring and Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, overperformed at the box office. The Will Gluck directed film has earned over $200 million at the global box office against a measly budget of $25 million.
Hathaway and Galitzine are joined by Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Mathilda Gianopoulos, Raymond Cham Jr., Jaiden Anthony, Viktor White, Dakota Adan in the cast for The Idea Of You.
The Idea Of You will be available on Prime Video from 2nd May.
