Godzilla Minus One is the 37th(!) instalment in the iconic Godzilla franchise. Here’s the second, smashing trailer:
The last Hollywood iteration of Japan’s monster franchise was 2021’s crossover epic Godzilla vs Kong, with a sequel, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire slated for released in 2024, once again directed by Adam Wingard, this time written by regular collaborator Simon Barrett alongside Terry Rossio and Jeremy Slater.
However, the next film to arrive in cinemas will be Toho Studios’ Godzilla Minus One. Set in the late 1940s, the logline reads as follows:
After the war, Japan’s economic state has been reduced to zero. Godzilla appears and plunges the country into a negative state.
Takashi Yamazaki writes and directs.
Godzilla Minus One will premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival on the 1st November, and it will debut in the US shortly after. A UK release date has not yet been confirmed, but hopefully we won’t have too long to wait.
