Noir thriller The Lesson comes to cinemas this summer, with Daryl McCormack and Richard E Grant on board. Here’s the trailer.

The Lesson is a noir thriller that’s been earmarked for a summer release, in the US at least. The official synopsis reads as follows:

Liam (Daryl McCormack), an aspiring and ambitious young writer, eagerly accepts a tutoring position at the family estate of his idol, renowned author J.M. Sinclair (Richard E. Grant). But soon, Liam realizes that he is ensnared in a web of family secrets, resentment, and retribution. Sinclair, his wife Hélène (Julie Delpy), and their son Bertie (Stephen McMillan) all guard a dark past, one that threatens Liam’s future as well as their own. As the lines between master and protégé blur, class, ambition, and betrayal become a dangerous combination in this taut noir thriller.

It marks the feature directorial debut of Alice Troughton, who previously directed various television shows including the terrific Doctor Who episode Midnight. The screenplay is written by Alex MacKeith, and the current plan is for the movie to be released in the US on July 7th. We await UK release news with interest.

Watch the trailer below in the meantime though…
