Robert De Niro stars in comedy About My Father, and here’s the trailer for his latest venture into the genre.
The words ‘Robert De Niro’ and ‘comedy’ can evoke mixed emotions. On the one hand, there’s the classic Midnight Run, while on the other there’s… Dirty Grandpa.
About My Father, however, sees De Niro in familiar territory, playing a headstrong Italian American patriarch. The official synopsis reads as follows:
Sebastian is encouraged by his fiancée to bring his immigrant, hairdresser father, Salvo, to a weekend get-together with her super-rich and exceedingly eccentric family. The weekend develops into what can only be described as a culture clash, leaving Sebastian and Salvo to discover that the great thing about family is everything about family.
Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco stars alongside De Niro and Leslie Bibb, with Kim Cattrall, Anders Holm, Brett Dier, & David Rasche playing her family.
Laura Terruso directs from a script written by Maniscalco and Austen Earl.
About My Father will be released on the 26th May.
