A sequel to Taylor Sheridan’s terrific 2017 thriller Wind River is on the way, with a new creative team behind the camera.

Between 2016 and 2018, Taylor Sheridan had a brilliant run of screenplays which made it to the screen, including Sicario and Hell Or High Water.

The third of these, though, Wind River, is now following Sicario and receiving a sequel. The original was a slow burn thriller that thrust Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner into the Wyoming wilderness as they attempt to solve a murder case.

Wind River: The Next Chapter will follow the investigation into the “terror that has escalated on the Wind River reservation as a series of ritualistic murders remain unsolved. The FBI therefore enlists the aid of Hanson, a newly minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, who becomes embroiled in a desperate and dangerous fight between the authorities, a vigilante and the Reservation he calls home”.

Martin Sensmeier, the only cast member reprising their role from the original, will star as Wind River local Chip Hanson, with other cast members yet to be announced.

Falcon And The Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland will helm the film from a screenplay by Lara Croft: Tomb Raider writers Patrick Massett and John Zinman. Sheridan is not involved.

Wind River: The Next Chapter will begin production soon, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
