Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and that Gosling fella, is getting a physical media release in the UK this October. Details…

The biggest film of the year at the box office – it wasn’t dethroned by The Expend4bles after all – Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed Barbie movie, is on its way to home entertainment formats. What’s more, it’s getting a full physical media release too, with a bunch of options to choose from.

October 23rd 2023 is the date the film arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K disc, uncharacteristically arriving a month ahead of Oppenheimer’s disc debut (it’s buggered up the hashtag, but so be it). Still, the Margot Robbie-headlined hit – Barbie, not Oppenheimer – is up for preorder now, and you can find it here.

Those options? The standard DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases all come with a bunch of special features. Unusually, these are even included on the DVD version (an increasing rarity in modern times), but if you’re on the lookout for a commentary track or something, you’re out of luck.

Instead, you’re getting:

* Welcome to Barbie Land – featurette

* Becoming Barbie – featurette

* Playing Dress-Up – featurette

* Musical Make-Believe – featurette

* All-Star Barbie Party – featurette

* It’s A Weird World – featurette

Furthermore, there’s a Steelbook 4K disc option as well, which hasn’t sold out at the time this particular story is being written. You can find that here.

An October 23rd release for Barbie it is, then. And if you’re unfamiliar, somehow, with the movie, then the synopsis remains brief and to the point:

“To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place.  Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken”.

Told you.
