Chiwetel Ejiofor confirms next directorial project as drama Rob Peace

Chiwetel Ejiofor’s second feature as director will be Rob Peace, and Jay Will has been cast in the title role.

Chiwetel Ejiofor may have won a BAFTA for his performance in 12 Years A Slave, but he is now building a career behind the camera as well. His directorial debut, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, is currently available to watch on Netflix.

He is now preparing to shoot his second film, Rob Peace. Based on a true story, it will follow the life of the titular character as he escapes the crime-ridden streets of Newark, New Jersey as he gets a scholarship to Yale. Once there, he excels in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. At the same time as he researches diseases like cancer, he begins building a lucrative secondary career as a marijuana dealer.

Tulsa King star Jay Will has been cast as the title character.

Ejiofor will direct from his own script, adapted from the biography by Jeff Hobbs. Training Day director Antoine Fuqua is among the producers.
