Diablo Cody has been talking about Jennifer’s Body 2 and it seems one is heading our way sooner rather than later.
We’ve been eagerly waiting for more news on Jennifer’s Body 2, the sequel to the 2009 cult film that Diablo Cody has been promising us for some time now. In 2024, the writer admitted she’s keen to do one and in March 2026, Cody revealed that she was indeed writing a new film.
Now, Cody is promising that Jennifer’s Body 2 is indeed happening and she’s been teasing a whole new version of the demonic Jennifer, played originally by Megan Fox.
“Jennifer is a sympathetic character for me, before and after the transformation,” she explained on the Petticoat Revolution podcast, as reported by Deadline. “I mean, she is very isolated, she’s very lonely, she’s very insecure. Everybody remembers Jennifer when she’s like, ‘I am a god,’ or when she’s at her most radiant and at her most powerful. But people forget about these moments in the movie where she’s like a shell of herself, she’s just exsanguinated almost. And to me, Megan played both of those sides of Jennifer so well.”
It also sounds like the sequel will be happening soon, although no director has been officially attached. Original director Karyn Kusama did seem open to returning to the world of Jennifer, as Deadline notes, but nothing is set in stone.
“And one fun thing—I can’t talk about it too much—but you know we’re doing a sequel to this movie, like imminently, and I felt like in the new movie, I was able to explore even more about why Jennifer is sympathetic and what she’s been through. And there is absolutely, to me, a loneliness and a poignancy to that character that people don’t always recognize.”
We like the word “imminently” here! Hopefully Jennifer’s Body 2 does indeed come together rapidly and we’ll get another potent Diablo Cody horror film.
20th Century Studios is behind the film, but hasn’t given the film a release window yet. Back in 2025, Amanda Seyfried, who played Needy in the first film, revealed that she and Megan Fox would be open to returning but no one has been officially attached to the sequel yet. Fox is likely to return, considering she is the title character, but we’ll wait for official confirmation.
We’ll bring you more news on Jennifer’s Body 2 when we hear them.
