The new, highly anticipated season of Doctor Who, with Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, will premiere on 11th May. More on it below.

It’s a good day to be a Doctor Who fan. The new series of Doctor Who isn’t too far away at all as the BBC have announced that the new series will premiere on 11th May.

You can opt to watch the first two episode of the series on BBC iPlayer at midnight or wait until Saturday evening to watch them on BBC One, right before the Eurovision finale. Now that’s a wild Saturday night, if you ask me.

The new series will be the first to feature Ncuti Gatwa, recently seen dancing his heart away at the Oscars with Ryan Gosling, as the Doctor. Millie Gibson will join him as his companion, Ruby Sunday.

The press release from the BBC teases that the upcoming series will see the pair “travel through time and space on adventures to unknown lands, to the Regency era in England, to outer space worlds and the sixties.”

There are plenty of familiar faces returning to Doctor Who as well, such as Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday and Anita Dobson as Mrs Flood. Jinkx Monsoon, Aneurin Barnard, Yasmin Finney, Jonathan Groff, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush and Indira Varma are all also set to make appearances.

“At last, it’s my great delight to unleash a whole new season of the Doctor and Ruby’s adventures together.  Monsters!  Chases!  Villains!  Mysteries!  And a terrifying secret that’s been spanning time and space for decades.  Don’t miss a second!” showrunner Russell T. Davies said.

If you’re outside of the UK, fear not. You can catch all Doctor Who action on Disney+ from 7pm ET on the 10th May.

Episodes will drop at midnight on every Saturday, followed by a prime time spot on BBC One each week.

This will be Gatwa’s first proper series as the Fifteenth Doctor, following his very successful debut at Christmas in The Church On Ruby Road.
