Doctor Who season 15 has officially started production and the official teaser video gives us a glimpse of the TARDIS.
Season 14 of Doctor Who hasn’t even aired yet, but there is no stopping showrunner Russell T. Davies and his crew from pushing forward on yet another run of the beloved sci-fi series.
A short teaser was posted on the show’s socials yesterday (23 October), announcing that filming is now underway for season 15, which will be Ncuti Gatwa’s second series as the eponymous Doctor.
In the 24-second video, filmed at a soundstage in Cardiff, a sheet is pulled off of the iconic TARDIS, which then promptly lights up and flickers, before disappearing completely from view.

“Filming starts today,” the video then announces in big, shiny letters. Can we get a hip hip hooray?
Season 15 is still a while away. We still have the 60th anniversary special airing in November, which will see the return of David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor as well as Catherine Tate. The 14th series is then due to air in 2024, and it’s a fair bet that virtually all of the episodes now shooting won’t be seen until 2025.

Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa will then continue as the new, 15th Doctor in the festive special this year, along with the already-shot 14th season. In the teaser, you can also hear a bit of the new theme for the 15th Doctor as well, with Murray Gold back on music duties.
Just to be clear, in the upcoming specials due to air starting next month David Tennant is not returning to his role as the Tenth Doctor, whom he played across three seasons between 2005 and 2010. Speaking to Empire, Tennant teases Davies’ vision for the character. “That was the first exciting piece of mischief that Russell created,” Tennant said. “That I was going to be Doctor No. 14 rather than Doctor No. 10 again. You’ll just have to wait and see why the 14th Doctor is so much like the 10th.”
