Downton Abbey is heading back to the big screen for a new installment ā and itās bringing back some newly-nominated facesā¦
Hold onto your overs and side your ways, Paul Giamatti is launching straight out of his The Holdovers Oscar nomination back into Downton in a new screen adaptation from original scribe Julian Fellowes.
Giamatti was last seen gracing Downtonās many steps in the seriesā 2013 Christmas special, where he played āfree spirited playboyā Harold Levinson.

Simon Curtis is returning to direct after taking charge on 2022ās Downton Abbey: A New Era, while the returning cast includes series mainstays Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, and Michelle Dockery.
Making their return alongside them are (deep breath) Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera and Douglas Reith. Itās a good job the house is so big.
The Downton Abbey Cinematic Universe has proved a surprise British international success story, launching out of the hit ITV show (which ended in 2015) with 2019ās Downton Abbey ā which earned $194m worldwide.

The last instalment in the franchise boasts the unlikely title of the second-widest cinema release in the UK, debuting a couple of Aprils ago in 746 locations (the current wideness-leader, No Time To Die, opened in 772. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker takes third with 740. We love facts).
