Despite rumours that Euphoria season 3 was cancelled, HBO says it’s still “committed” to making more of the award-winning show.

For a while now, fans have been wondering if we’ll ever see Euphoria season 3. Arguably, it hasn’t looked good; Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer’s careers have boomed and they’re all now certified movie stars, while creator Sam Levinson’s reputation took a hit with the troubled production of The Idol

In fact, a rumour surfaced over the weekend that season 3 has been cancelled altogether. World Of Reel reported yesterday that the network had told the cast they’re free to pursue other projects and the planned summer shoot would no longer take place.

Deadline now reports that Euphoria season 3 will still be happening, but maybe not for a while.

“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” the network told Deadline in a statement.

“In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities,” it concluded.

Zendaya is currently starring in Dune: Part Two and her next film, Challengers, will be released in April after some severe delays caused by last year’s strikes. Elordi is coming off of the success of Saltburn and Priscilla while Sydney Sweeney is currently scaring the socks off cinema patrons in Immaculate. Hunter Schafer will star in upcoming horror film Cuckoo as well as Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film, Kinds Of Kindness

In all honesty, it’ll be a logistical nightmare to get the whole cast together again, but it might just be worth it. Euphoria has been one of HBO’s most successful shows, earning Zendaya the title of youngest recipient of an Emmy for her role as Rue in 2020 and youngest two-time recipient of the award in 2022.

The production was also faced with a tragedy as Angus Cloud, who played a lovable drug dealer with a heart of gold, Fez, in the series passed away. Castmember Barbie Ferreira also announced in 2022 that she wouldn’t return for any more seasons

It looks like Euphoria isn’t quite over yet, but we might still be waiting a while before we see Zendaya play Rue once again.
