The second Ncuti Gatwa Doctor Who series is heading our way this year and Juno Dawson has been announced as one of the writers.

Doctor Who series 2 (or series 15, depending how you look at it) is coming together nicely it seems and will be heading to small screens sometime this year. Russell T Davies is looking over the series again as well as the upcoming The War Between The Land And The Sea spin-off, which just got some interesting updates from star Russell Tovey.

As reported by Deadline, Juno Dawson has now joined the Doctor Who writers room to work on the second series alongside previously announced writers Pete McTighe, Inua Ellams and Sharma Angel-Walfall.

“I started watching Doctor Who with my grandma when I was ten-years-old in the 1990s,” Dawson said of the news. “From writing fan-fiction for an audience of one, to scripting the best TV show of all time is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait for fans and newcomers to see the new season.”

This isn’t the first time Dawson’s name has been associated with the TARDIS. The writer previously helmed a spin-off podcast, Doctor Who: Redacted in 2018. The audio series starred former Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker. Dawson has also penned several books including This Book Is Gay, Mind Your Head, The Gender Games and Her Majesty’s Royal Coven

There’s still no word on when Doctor Who series 2 might be coming our way (but the spring seems likely) and there’s still doubt whether we might see Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor for a third season. We’ll keep you posted on both questions.
