Well, that didn’t take long. Considering it took the best part of 20 years to get the new take on Masters Of The Universe to the big screen, it’s certainly not enjoying much of a gap between its cinema debut and its arrival on streaming.
To save this being one of those insufferable, AI-written stories where you have to scroll through 989 paragraphs, two pop-ups and an invitation to send you notifications before you get the key information, the movie now lands on Prime Video on 22nd July 2026.
It’s skipping premium video on demand, and 47 days after getting a really wide cinema release, you’re going to be able to watch it on streaming.
It’s not a huge surprise, given that the movie didn’t make that much of a dent in cinemas. A $113m global gross didn’t cover the costs of making the new Masters Of The Universe, but then the movie was made with Amazon money. Sure, Sony gave it a wide cinema release, as it did with Project Hail Mary earlier this year. But as with Project Hail Mary, there’s ultimately streaming money underneath it.
Hand on heart, accepting it’s waaaaay too long, I had so much fun with Masters Of The Universe, and am hugely looking forward to round two. I can’t remember too many PG-13/12A rated movies with fisting jokes in, for a start. My full review is below these very words.
