Streaming giant Netflix is said to have to have made an offer to provide a home for Kevin Costnerās epic multi-part western saga, Horizon.
What comes next for Horizon: An American Saga is a question that is yet to be answered, with the future of Kevin Costnerās ambitious multi-part western currently up in the air. The first film in the series released a few weeks ago and proved to be something of a tough sell for audiences. The second part was due to be released next month but plans for that have now been paused as Kevin Costner, the filmsā co-writer, director, producer and star, reassesses his options for what is planned to be a four-film saga.
According to World Of Reel, thereās a new option on the table for Costner to consider, and it has emerged from Netflix. The report suggests that Netflix will step in and partially fund chapters three and four of the series, although the outlet states that most of the budget would still be financed by outside parties. The films would then release months apart on the streaming platform and perhaps might even be recut into an episodic format.

Such a deal would still see Costner having to come up with lots of cash for the filming of Horizon's third and fourth chapters, plus those films almost certainly wouldnāt get a theatrical release as he would have intended. Whether that makes a deal unpalatable to him, weāll have to wait and see.
You can see why Netflix is keen to broker a deal with Costner: his films perform on the service when they pop up there and a Costner film series (or perhaps recut as a multi-part episodic series) would give Netflix a star-laden western epic to rival that of Yellowstone, the Paramount western series (that also used to feature Costner).
Ultimately though, a deal with Amazon or Apple might be a better avenue for the film as it would at least see the films get a theatrical release before making their bow on streaming.
