Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley has set his next project: a remake of Terrified, one of 2017’s best, most gruesome horror movies.

Another day, another remake! Noah Hawley, the man behind Alien: Earth and Fargo, has been attached to direct an American remake of Terrified, an Argentine supernatural horror from 2017.

Deadline reports that the director of the original, Demián Rugna, is helping to develop the project, which has found a home at Warner Bros. The 2017 film followed a team investigating paranormal occurrences in a specific neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.

An English-language remake of Terrified was originally announced in 2018 and Guillermo Del Toro was set to produce, but nothing ever came from it. Rugna was also working on a script for a direct sequel back in 2020, but nothing has been heard of it since and the remake seems to be the priority right now.

Hawley is currently working on the second season of Alien: Earth, which debuted to strong reviews in August 2025. He was also the force behind the anthology series Fargo, based on the very famous and very good Coen Brothers film of the same name. Both series received widespread acclaim and this writer was certainly a big fan.

Hawley has already proved he’s more than capable of handling a long-form story on a smaller screen, but he’s only ever directed one feature film, 2019’s Lucy In The Sky. That film left a lot to be desired, but Terrified, or Aterrados in Spanish, provides a strong base for a remake.

The challenge is creating scares that are as effective as the ones Rugna’s original offered. We’ll likely be waiting for this one for a while still as Alien: Earth season 2 hasn’t entered production quite just yet, but we’ll keep you posted on when we might expect the Terrified remake to hit cinemas.
