Sylvester Stallone is on the warpath, as the Rambo Trilogy comes to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. More right here.
To date, we’re up to five Rambo movies released, with a sixth on the way by the name of John Rambo. But also, outside of the US at least, the rights to the films are a little bit scattered. While there’s a boxset doing the rounds with all five films in it elsewhere on the planet, in the UK, things aren’t quite that simple.
That’s why for the UK boxset, we’re getting three films in the collection, but also, they’re the three films most would probably fancy rewatching the most often. Studiocanal has announced that in November, a Rambo trilogy set will head to 4K Ultra Blu-ray.
In it, you’ll find First Blood, First Blood: Part II, and once the most expensive film of all time, Rambo III. In each of them, Sylvester Stallone plays John Rambo, who over the course of the trilogy becomes more and more trigger happy. Rambo III is, you could argue very successfully, a film tonally far removed from the movie that started the whole trilogy off.
Missing from the set then are 2008’s Rambo and 2019’s best forgotten Rambo: Last Blood. And then next summer the prequel film pops up.
Each of the films has a commentary track (in the case of First Blood, you get two: one from Sylvester Stallone, one from screenwriter David Morell), which have come across from previous releases. But it’s very nice to have them.
The Rambo trilogy is available now to pre-order, with a release date set for 9th November 2026 in the UK.
You can find the link to order the set right here.
As and when we hear about 4K releases of further John Rambo adventures, we’ll keep you posted. Until then, you’ll have to make do with the quiet, sedate Rambo III instead…
