Nickelodeon sitcom The Thundermans has been revived in follow up feature film The Thundermans Return for Paramount+, here’s the trailer.
Reboots of classic Nickelodeon shows have been all the rage over the last few years, from the revival of iCarly to reunion film Zoey 102 and several live action adaptations of cartoon The Fairly Odd Parents.
The latest show to get the sequel treatment is superhero sitcom The Thundermans, which ran for four series on Nickelodeon from 2013 to 2018. It followed Phoebe and Max, warring super siblings with opposite personalities, as they navigate their way through school, friends and a family of extraordinary superheroes, all while keeping their true identities a secret with the help of parents Hank and Barb, and younger siblings Chloe, Billy and Nora.
The synopsis for feature film follow up The Thundermans Return reads as follows:
The Thundermans Return follows twins Phoebe and Max who are enjoying their superhero lifestyle in a new city, but when one ‘save’ goes awry, the Thundermans are sent back to Hiddenville. While Hank and Barb enjoy their return, Chloe develops a new friend group, and Billy and Nora begin a normal high school life, Max and Phoebe are determined to regain their superhero status. The movie features the return of show favorites, including familiar locations, and new menacing supervillains.
Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo, who also serve as executive producers, Diego Valezquez, Maya Le Clark, Chris Tallman, Addison Riecke and Rosa Blasi all reprise their roles.
Creator of the show Jed Spingarn wrote the script from a story he wrote with Sean W. Cunningham. Regular series director Trevor Kirschner is behind the camera.
The Thundermans Return will stream on Paramount+ in the UK from the 7th March. All four series of The Thundermans are available to stream on Paramount+.
