We’ve had very little news on the movie Tom Cruise and Alejandro González Iñárritu have been working on. In fact, it even started filming rather suddenly about a year ago and since then, there has been no news on what it might be about or even called.
Until now.
Warner Bros has released a video to give us a brief glimpse of the movie as well as the title. Take a peek:
And there we have it! The movie is officially called Digger, taking its name from Cruise’s character. The brief announcement video – does this count as a teaser trailer? – also promises Digger to be “ a comedy of catastrophic proportions”.
There’s also the tagline “In Digger we trust.”
Variety has some more information on the film’s premise. Cruise’s character, Digger Rockwell, is described as “the most powerful man in the world” and he “embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.” Apparently that mission can’t be completed without a shovel.
The film also got a confirmed release date and Digger is set to hit cinemas on 2nd October 2026. There’s also a groovy poster to go with the news, which you can spy below.
