The latest offering from Blumhouse brings double trouble in a story of a mysterious doppelganger: here’s the first trailer for The Visitor.

Blumhouse Productions, it seems, just keep going from strength to strength. From its humble beginnings releasing micro budget features like 2007’s Paranormal Activity and 2010’s Insidious, it is now one of the most successful film studios of its ilk currently working. Specialising in horror features made on a low budget, thus giving their filmmakers more autonomy than many studios allow, the formula brings success after success. This year alone, The Black Phone made over $150 million on a budget of $16 million, with the upcoming Halloween Kills set to do big business as well.

Before that, though, comes The Visitor. The official synopsis reads as follows…

When Robert and his wife Maia move to her childhood home, he discovers an old portrait of his likeness in the attic – a man referred to only as ‘The Visitor’. Soon he finds himself descending down a frightening rabbit hole in an attempt to discover the true identity of his mysterious doppelgänger, only to realize that every family has its own terrifying secrets.

Iron Fist’s Finn Jones headlines the film as Robert alongside Jessica McNamee as Maria. Dane Rhodes and Donna Biscoe also feature.

Justin P. Lange directs from a screenplay by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes.

The Visitor is due for release on digital platforms on the 7th October. Watch the trailer below…
