The latest offering from Blumhouse brings double trouble in a story of a mysterious doppelganger: hereā€™s the first trailer for The Visitor. Blumhouse Productions, it seems, just keep going from strength to strength. From its humble beginnings releasing micro budget features like 2007ā€™s Paranormal Activity and 2010ā€™s Insidious, it is now one of the most successful film studios of its ilk currently working. Specialising in horror features made on a low budget, thus giving their filmmakers more autonomy than many studios allow, the formula brings success after success. This year alone, The Black Phone made over $150 million on a budget of $16 million, with the upcoming Halloween Kills set to do big business as well. Before that, though, comes The Visitor. The official synopsis reads as followsā€¦ When Robert and his wife Maia move to her childhood home, he discovers an old portrait of his likeness in the attic ā€“ a man referred to only as ‘The Visitor’. Soon he finds himself descending down a frightening rabbit hole in an attempt to discover the true identity of his mysterious doppelgänger, only to realize that every family has its own terrifying secrets. Iron Fistā€™s Finn Jones headlines the film as Robert alongside Jessica McNamee as Maria. Dane Rhodes and Donna Biscoe also feature. Justin P. Lange directs from a screenplay by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes. The Visitor is due for release on digital platforms on the 7th October.
