Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver topped the Netflix chart after its release on Friday but it didn’t make the same splash as its predecessor.

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is now available to watch on Netflix and as predicted, the film was the most watched movie on the streaming service over the weekend, as reported by Deadline

The Scargiver lured 21.4 million pairs of eyes (or at least households) in front of a screen to watch Kora and her friends’ fight against the Motherworld, but it still fell short of the numbers of Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire. The first instalment in the franchise brought in 23.9 million viewers upon its release in December.

We reported before The Scargiver was released that director Zack Snyder was busy working on a third Rebel Moon film. No such film has officially been greenlit by Netflix, but we doubt such a minute detail will stop Snyder.

In our review of The Scargiver we wrote: “The ending undermines Kora’s arc and The Scargiver inevitably feels like a middle part of a bigger narrative rather than its own film. It benefits from its one location setting rather than the planet-hopping style of the first , but the ending feels disappointingly incomplete.”

While The Scargiver’s numbers aren’t mind-blowing, especially compared to the first part, it’s still a big, high profile project for Netflix which surely attracted plenty of new subscribers. Not that we’ll ever know since Netflix doesn’t share those numbers anymore

On the TV side of things, Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer reigned supreme. Based on his own experiences with a stalker, the series has been a huge hit for Netflix, drawing in 13.3 million views. The series rose from fifth place on the TV chart to the very top, possibly aided by the glowing reviews and social media reactions as viewers discovered the series.
