Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut and Crocodile Dundee 2 are both coming to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK.
39 years after it became a global phenomenon, the first Crocodile Dundee film is getting a brand new physical media release this year, as it heads to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.
This’ll be the freshly-restored Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut, that we can confirm is going to be on sale in the UK for the first time on 3rd November 2025. It’s distributed by Signature Entertainment, and you can see the packshot for the new release a bit further down the page.
The Encore Cut has caused one or two ruffles, given that it very, very slightly alters the film. As per the information we were supplied about the new release:
The restoration was sourced from a 6K scan of the original camera negatives and interpositives that were held in the safe custodianship of the National Film and Sound Archives in Australia, provided to The Grainery in Canberra for scanning on an Arriscan XT.
The running time of CROCODILE DUNDEE: THE ENCORE CUT is 97 minutes. It is the same film except for the deletion of certain frames from two scenes, a total of 14 frames, and a change of one of word in two lines of dialogue. The deleted frames depict Mick Dundee’s interaction with a person in a NYC bar, and a person at a NYC party. These are the same frames cut from the US version and certain international versions, excluding Australia, by Paramount Pictures many years ago.
Furthermore, Signature has also confirmed that on the same day, we’re also getting a DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Crocodile Dundee 2, which to my knowledge is unaltered.
