Demi Lovato will make her directorial debut with Child Star documentary, which has already got a backer too: more here.

Demi Lovato shot to fame as the star of Disney Channel sitcom Sonny With A Chance. This led to a highly successful music career but also a plethora of personal problems, growing up in the limelight.

Lovato will explore these issues and the wider context of what it means to become famous at a young age in Child Star. The film will be Lovato’s directorial debut, with Nicola Marsh co-directing. It will see Lovato interview some of the world’s most famous former child stars and how “their rise to fame, fortune and power affected their futures.”.

The other participants in the documentary have not yet been revealed.

Child Star is being made for Hulu in the US, whose projects often end up on the STAR section of Disney+ in the UK. More on the film as we hear it.
