Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood and David Cronenberg are said to be joining the cast of horror sequel Ready Or Not 2, subtitled Here I Come.
What do Buffy, Frodo Baggins and the master of body horror have in common? Apparently, it’s the forthcoming sequel Ready Or Not 2, better known to its creators as Ready Or Not: Here I Come.
Already in production, the follow-up to the blackly comic 2019 horror thriller is still building up its impressive cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest additions include Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood and legendary filmmaker David Cronenberg.
They’ll be joining Ant-Man actor Kathryn Newton (who joined in March) and returning star Samara Weaving in the horror sequel, which is set to continue the story of Grace (Weaving) who suffers through one of the bloodiest wedding days imaginable. Filmmaking collective Radio Silence are back to direct, along with screenwriters Gary Busick and R Christopher Murphy. And while the first Ready Or Not told a fairly self-contained story, the sequel’s script is “an absolute f–ing banger” according to co-director Tyler Gillett.

Also among the growing cast, we’re told, are Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell and Kevin Durand – the latter also having starred in Radio Silence’s 2024 horror, Abigail. The most fascinating addition, though – at least for this writer, though – is Cronenberg. Although best known as the director of such films as Videodrome, The Fly and A History Of Violence, he’s occasionally turned to acting in the past. He was singularly unsettling as a psychologist and masked killer in Clive Barker’s cult classic, Nightbreed, and had a small yet similarly effective role in the batty Jason X.
Will Cronenberg have a similarly memorable part in Ready Or Not: Here I Come, or will it be more of a cameo? We’ll have to wait and see; at the time of writing, a release date hasn’t been announced. We’ll let you know when one emerges.
