Sadie Frost-directed Twiggy documentary in production, set for UK cinema release in 2023

A documentary about Twiggy has begun production, an all star cast of interviewees have been lined up. Sadie Frost will direct.

A documentary about celebrated pop star Twiggy is now in production in London. Parts of the film are being shot at Film Soho’s virtual production stage, where scenes from Twiggy’s life being recreated, with Twiggy, real name Lesley Lawson, playing herself.

Those interviewed for the film, outside of Twiggy herself, include her husband Leigh Lawson, Paul McCartney, Brooke Shields, Erin O’Connor, Lulu, Poppy Delavigne, Pattie Boyd and Zandra Rhodes.

It will examine Twiggy’s rise to stardom, from her humble beginnings in 1960s London through her success as a model and, later, pop star and actress, where she starred in films like Club Paradise alongside Robin Williams and Madame Sousatzka alongside Shirley MacLaine.

Directing the film is Sadie Frost, who previously helmed Quant, which explored the legacy of 1960s fashion designer Mary Quant.

Twiggy will be released theatrically in the UK and Ireland in 2023, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
