Steven Spielberg’s latest film, said to include UFOs, has been pushed back from May to June 2026. The Daniels’ next movie has also been shifted.

May of 2026 was beginning to look like a problem for at least one major film release, given that in the space of a month we were due to get a Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, a Steven Spielberg film, and Avengers: Doomsday. The average person only goes to the cinema two or three times a year, so asking them to go two or three times in a month was probably a tall order.

And make no mistake, lots of ‘average people’ are going to have to show up to make these movies work – especially the two Disney behemoths that will need to pull in big numbers to continue powering the gears of each respective franchise.

The next film from The Daniels, makers of Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, seems to be taking a little longer to arrive than planned, however, so Universal has elected to push Spielberg’s rumoured UFO movie into the June slot that was being held for their movie.

Spielberg’s latest – written by David Koepp – will therefore arrive on the 12th June 2026. It’s set to star Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell. At one stage, it was reportedly titled The Dish, but it’s said to have had a name change since, with Disclosure now rumoured to be its new name. Production is slated to begin at the end of this month. While there is still plenty of competition in June from Masters Of The Universe, Toy Story 5 and the new Scary Movie, it’s not quite the total eclipse you’d get from a competing Marvel and Lucasfilm movie.

As for the next film from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – collectively known as The Daniels – it currently has no release spot, but this is sure to be a temporary measure according to Deadline. The subject of their follow-up to the all-conquering Everything, Everywhere, All At Once remains shrouded in secrecy as does – for the moment at least – its release date.

We’ll bring you more on both of these films as we hear more.
