We’ve been looking forward to In The Blink Of An Eye for what feels like aeons now – hence its inclusion in our list of 2026’s most anticipated sci-fi films.

It’s the latest movie from director Andrew Stanton, best known for such Pixar animated classics as Finding Nemo and Wall-E – though he also made the live-action fantasy adventure John Carter, a financial disappointment which has since found a cult following.

Filming on In The Blink Of An Eye ended in April 2024, and things went rather quiet there for a while. It’s an ambitious story, telling three intertwining narratives set in the distant past, the present, and the space-faring future. It might sound rather 2001: A Space Odyssey, but screenwriter Colby Day’s script is more warm and gentle than Kubrick’s icy classic.

It was recently announced that In The Blink Of An Eye will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2026, leaving us thinking that a wider cinema run would be set for a few weeks later. Instead, news has emerged – via a poster – that Disney is skipping theatres altogether. Instead, Stanton’s film will premiere on Hulu on the 27th February in the US. Presumably, it’ll emerge on regular Disney+ in the UK not long after.

(Hat tip to Discussing Film for sharing the poster via social media.)

Starring Kate McKinnon, Rashida Jones, Daveed Diggs and Tanaya Beatty, Stanton’s sci-fi drama sounded like the kind of movie that was designed with the big screen in mind. Unfortunately, it sounds as though Sundance visitors will be among the lucky few who’ll get to see it as it was surely intended.

Here’s that poster. Looks rather nice, doesn’t it?
