The BBC and Netflix are bringing back the Shelbys in two new seasons of Peaky Blinders. More on the news below.

The Peaky Blinders movie, now officially titled The Immortal Man, has been in the works for some time now. The film went into production last year and we’ve had our first look of the film already, but a release date still hasn’t been announced.

If you still need more Peaky Blinders in your life, fear not. Plenty more is on the way as BBC and Netflix announce two new series of the fan favourite TV series.

Here’s a synopsis:

Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.

This shouldn’t really be a surprise, especially after Knight promised earlier this year that Peaky Blinders wouldn’t be done after the movie.

The press release describes the two new series as the story of “a new generation of Shelbys”. This likely means that the action won’t be focusing on Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby, although the Oscar-winning actor will be executive producing. Who knows, maybe he’ll make an appearance after all.

No further cast details or release window has been announced.

The original series wrapped up after season six in 2022, but fans have been craving more. The feature film was once supposed to be released in 2025 and Knight has been clear that he wants it to have a cinema run, but Netflix has remained tight-lipped about the whole affair.

“I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story,” Knight said. “Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”

The new episodes will be filmed in Birmingham. Both series will comprise six episodes, each 60 minutes long with Knight, naturally, writing them.

Knight has only recently finished his new, steamy Netflix drama House Of Guinness, but it seems that the Shelby family is just too intriguing a subject for the writer-creator to let go of.

More news on all things Peaky Blinders, movie or show, as we get it.
