Production is now underway on Netflix’s Wednesday season 2, with more actors added to the cast. Billie Piper! Thandiwe Newton! Blimey.
Wednesday stands as one of the biggest shows on Netflix. The Addams Family spin-off/reimagining comes from the creative team of director Tim Burton and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Miller.
Jenna Ortega stars as the titular character, she recently revealed that the second season would lean more heavily into the horror genre.
Netflix has now confirmed (via Deadline) additional series regulars for the second season. Billie Piper will play Capri, and Steve Buscemi will play Barry Dort. Joanna Lumley will play Grandmama, Thandiwe Newton, will play Dr. Fairburn. Also in the main cast are Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor
Other guest stars include Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo. Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values has also joined the cast, though his role has not been revealed.
Four season one recurring/guest star players are being promoted to series regulars – Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wednesday’s mom Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Wednesday’s dad Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Wednesday’s younger brother Pugsley; and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Sheriff Deputy Ritchie Santiago. Fred Armisen will reprise the role of Uncle Fester. It was reported last year that an Uncle Fester spin-off was in the works, though there have been no further updates.
Other returning regulars included Emma Myers as Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.
Season one regulars Percy Hynes White and Naomi J Ogawa will not be returning. Jamie McShane will reprise his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin for a guest appearence to wrap up his character’s story.
