Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web has been confirmed for 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD later this month. Details below.

Madame Web, Sony’s somewhat unfortunate attempt at bringing a notorious Spider-Man sidekick to the big screen, is hoping to get a second chance at success on its home entertainment release.

The film, directed by SJ Clarkson, is coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on the 27th May. You can pre-order the film now – and you can do that via this link

The film stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic with the ability to see into the future. She teams up with three future Spider-Women to hunt down your usual comic-book baddie.

Sydney Sweeney, who starred in the film as Julia Cornwall, has recently spoken how the film was a “building block” for her to create a relationship with Sony Pictures. Sweeney recently starred in Michael Mohan’s Immaculate, and Mohan talked to us about how involved Sweeney was in the day-to-day filmmaking as a producer.

Dakota Johnson, meanwhile, has been rather less diplomatic, having peppered her marketing trail for the movie with comments about the script’s “drastic changes”, the “[flipping] bleak” state of Hollywood, the “psychotic” process of being filmed in front of a blue screen, and how she “doesn’t make sense” in the fantastical landscape of a superhero movie.

The next upcoming Spider-Man spin-off, courtesy of Sony who still own the rights to the iconic webslinger, is Kraven The Hunter. Sony really needs a win with the film and they’ve recently delayed it from its original August release date to December. We’re sincerely hoping Kraven gets the cinematic introduction the character deserves.

As for Spider-Man himself, a fourth film seems to be in development and there are rumours that it’ll even start shooting in September. Sam Raimi is rumoured to be directing, but then again, that rumour surfaces every few months, so we’ll believe it when it’s announced by Marvel or Sony.
