Margot Robbie shared some new plot details of Bradley Cooper’s Ocean’s prequel which will focus on Danny Ocean’s parents.
Fans of the Ocean’s franchise are being treated with Bradley Cooper working on a prequel to Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 remake of a 1960 film of the same name.
Margot Robbie will star alongside Cooper in the film and the actress appeared at CinemaCon to share some new details of the film. Robbie shared that the new film will follow Danny Ocean’s parents as they plan an elaborate heist at the Monaco Grand Prix.
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows — his parents,” Robbie told the audience, as per Variety’s reporting.. “You’ll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
Robbie and Cooper will presumably play the parents and Netflix’s A Family Affair scribe Carrie Solomon is writing the script. The film is reportedly starting production this year and hitting cinemas in 2027, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Cooper is the third director to try his hand at cracking the film, which has been in development since 2022, after Lee Isaac Chung and Jay Roach departed the project. There’s no official title for the film yet.
This isn’t the only Ocean’s project currently in the works. George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Don Cheadle are all returning for another Ocean’s sequel. In early 2025, it was reported that John Wick and The Fall Guy director David Leitch was in line to direct, but it doesn’t seem like we have official confirmation for that nor do we know what the film will be about. We’re willing to bet George Clooney will try to steal something, though.
Neither film has a release date yet, but we’ll keep you updated on those.
